Struggle to train consistently? Keep reading.

Have you ever had to tell yourself “I’ll start being healthy next week?” or something alike? Have you ever felt like you just can’t get a grip on how to train consistently? Or holidays ruin your momentum? Or a rough day at work drops your fitness goals right off the list of priorities and you never make it back into the gym?

You’re not alone! You are stuck in what we call the cycle of doom.

The cycle starts when you have the realisation that you need to change. You need to get fit and healthy. So you sign up for a 8 week challenge at your local gym, a kickstart, something that is supposed to whip you into shape. You start fast! Full steam ahead.

After about two to three weeks of smashing out 4+ gym sessions a week and not touching a drop of alcohol or sugar, you have a bad day at work. Or you start to get this little niggle in your shoulder. Or you just feel too tired to hit the gym. So you have the day off. The cycle begins.

Your momentum slows down. One day off becomes two. All of a sudden you have now made a habit of making excuses. You start to feel annoyed at yourself. This is where the cycle gets tough.

You started your exercise program with such high hopes but now you feel like a failure. What happens when you feel bad? You behave bad. Your exercise and nutrition falls off of a cliff. You’re now in a position worse off than when you began. This is what the cycle does to people.

You have given up. You’ll wait until the next holiday and then muster up the energy to start the process all over again.

What if I told you, you’re doing this all wrong!

It’s not about achieving your goals quickly. It’s about setting yourself up for success. This means taking things one step at a time:

  1. Build a habit. Get to the gym once a week for 4 weeks.

  2. Double down on the habit. Get to the gym twice a week for the next 2 months. You are now officially consistent.

  3. Now that you’re consistent, develop strategies to allow you to adapt to life’s curveballs. You can only plan so much of your life. If you are too structured, you invite chaos when something changes.

  4. Enjoy life! You have now built a consitent training habit. You are motivated internally rather than by a unsustainable 8 week challenge where you’ve hated every minute of starving yourself.

This may sound simple. It is simple. It is about building internal motivation. If you don’t know where to start, get in contact and we can run you through our step by step process to achieve consistency and ultimately long term health.
